COYWA: Young entrepreneurs are developing their financial literacy skills
As part of the second cohort of the Creating Opportunities for Youth and Women in Africa (COYWA) programme, young entrepreneurs are receiving financial literacy training designed to strengthen their management skills and promote the success of their business ventures.
This training session aims to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to ensure the effective and sustainable management of their businesses’ financial resources. It focuses on best practices in financial planning, expenditure management, budgeting and monitoring economic performance.
Through practical exercises, participants learn, in particular, how to draw up a financial dashboard, anticipate cash flow requirements, control costs and make informed decisions to ensure the profitability and sustainability of their businesses. These skills are essential tools for better structuring their entrepreneurial initiatives and tackling the challenges associated with financing and growing their businesses.
Beyond the acquisition of theoretical knowledge, this training aims to promote a culture of financial responsibility and strategic management amongst young and women entrepreneurs. It thus helps to strengthen their economic autonomy, their capacity for innovation and their ability to develop viable and competitive businesses.
Through the COYWA programme, ECOWAS, in collaboration with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) and with financial support from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), continues its commitment to the economic empowerment of young people and women in West Africa.
By strengthening their financial literacy skills, the COYWA programme helps to ensure that these entrepreneurs are better equipped to turn their ideas into sustainable businesses that create value and jobs.
